Schwarzlot Enamel
Schwarzlot was first used in the 17th C. It is a slightly translucent dark brown/black medium that's painted on and fired in a kiln. Its ink-like properties allowed the creation of finely detailed designs.

The piece pictured is on display at the Corning Museum of Glass.
