The Lone Templar

The Knight stood tall against the sky,
His sword gripped in his hand.
His horse was gone - struck from beneath
By one of the Saracen band.
On his body his chain-mail sheath,
Which glinted in the light,
And on his chest the crimson cross
Stood out against the white.
He stood alone against the foe:
His comrades were all slain -
Defending pilgrims - on their way
To Jerusalem again.
The Infidel - with fiendish shrieks -
Their scimitars held high,
Struck down the Knight and there he died
Beneath that Holy sky.
