Country Scenes
Oh to live in the country side
In the Autumn time of year
With all the different coloured leaves
Which will gently disappear

But soon those trees will all be bare
As the winter winds do blow
The leaves have fallen on the ground
It's a wonder where they go

As the seasons come along
We see some lovely sights
With all the snow in winter
And the frost at night

What a pretty sight to see
As we get out of bed
To see the hoare frost on the trees
And on the spiders web

As the snow lays on the ground
The ice forms on the lakes
You'll see the children with their sleighs
And their parents with their skates

So the winter passes on
And springtime comes along
Everything starts changing green
The birds are in full song

Soon we will get April showers
To make the flowers grow
And a little gentle breeze
To blow then to and fro
With lots of trees in blossom
And hedgerows full of may
The flowers in the garden
Smell nice as you pass their way

When you look up on the hills
You see some lovely scenes
As the sun shines on the fields
With their many shades of green

Then we get the Summertime
When the sun shines most of the day
The farmers working in the fields
And the smell of new mown hay

As some fields start changing colour
From their greens to golden corn
With combines working in the fields
So the harvest home is born

As I gaze out of my window
And watch the birds go home to rest
The seagulls fly from south to north
And crows go east to west

So the year comes to a close
With festivities and good cheer
A wish of Merry Christmas
And a Prosperous New Year
