Woolstone
Oh to be in Woolstone
As it was in years gone by
Looking at the changes
Makes me want to sigh

I remember when I walked to school
Under an avenue of trees
And all the happy times we had
When that jackpond used to freeze

After school had finished
Off we all would go
Some would skate some would slide
While others played with snow

I know we had to make our fun
But we found it all worth while
Everyone was happy
And each one had a smile

Today all this is different
They have so much to see
They get so bored and fed up
Not like you and me

Today the child is not the same
As we were of old
For we were always taught
To do as we were told

I dread to think how things will be
In the years to come
For when you read the papers
And see the things they’ve done

But now the place is changing
It will have another race
I wonder if it’s ever going
To be a better place

All we can do is wait and see
And pass opinions of our own
If the city had not come this way
Woolstone would be left alone
