A Jumbled Object
two single arms
a pair of legs
an abacus of toes and fingers
a myriad of nerves and reflexes
to take away the minutes from the hours

a leather jacket
tailored round a pure silk shirt
onyx cuff-links, tie-pin to match
I rattle like a mobile money box

a few French phrases
and a jumble of mixed mataphors
- my fluency requires no prompting

and if a moment's doubt creeps in
the packet's final cigarette
relaxes like the first;
the smoke disolves the faces looking round...
